Joe has over 30 years actuarial and managerial
experience with insurance companies. Prior to founding his
own actuarial consulting firm, he was chief actuary at medium-sized
property casualty insurers for over 15 years. In this capacity,
he has also been part of senior management in these companies.
Joe has headed both small actuarial departments and larger
departments spread over multiple locations. Joe also chaired
the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association. As a visiting
professor at the University of Michigan and Ball State University,
he taught actuarial science courses.
Joe graduated with Highest Honors in Mathematics
from the University of Michigan coupled with a Masters degree
in Mathematics. He wrote two major actuarial papers for the
Casualty Actuarial Society and chaired examination committees.
Joe is a frequent speaker at professional seminars and is
a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society and the American
Academy of Actuaries.

Connie is a founding partner of Marker Actuarial
Services, LLC. As his wife and/or business associate, they
have worked as a team for more than 32 years. She supports
his work activities allowing him to focus entirely on clients
needs, providing auxiliary backup. Her background is in planning
and policy analysis.
Connie has a Bachelor’s degree from the
University of Michigan with Honors and a Master’s degree
with a major in Policy Analysis. She worked as a planner in
State and local governments before turning her time fully
to support services, allowing Joe more time for actuarial
work. Their partnership continues. Connie handles non-actuarial
functions for the business, managing the office and coordinating
specialized support personnel as needed.
Peer Review by a network of independent
consulting actuaries
Marker Actuarial Services, LLC has reciprocating
agreements with a network of independent consulting actuaries
who do peer reviews for one another. This allows Marker Actuarial
to pursue independent analysis supported by peers who also
value independent and flexible contracts with clients.
