Products: Tailored Staffing
Solutions
A client may need an actuary for a limited period
of time for staff services. Contracting with the client to
be available for a certain minimum number of hours per month,
Joe Marker will serve as staff to senior management on an
“as needed” basis. Clients may seek advise on
topics such as:
- Actuarial databases and actuarial function workflows
- Coaching of less experienced actuarial staff
- Temporary staff support during staff absence or
illness of a month or more
- Project management of new project
- Assistance reorganizing or selecting new actuarial
staff
- Peer reviews of actuarial recommendations
- Long term planning
- New product ideas
- Mergers and acquisitions issues
- Reinsurance issues
- Other insurance challenges requiring actuarial expertise
Hiring an actuary experienced with corporate
procedures to attend to actuarial needs as necessary frees
the client from burdensome permanent staff obligations. In
today’s business climate, clients see increasing uncertainty
and variance in demand for products. Clients need fast and
reliable analysis of new marketplace opportunities to be competitive.
Yet full time permanent staff obligations may not always be
the best use of company resources. Clients may find that savings
can be significant using a smaller permanent staff handling
known routine functions supplemented with a senior actuarial
consultant as needed to handle more complex issues. A consultant
accustomed to working with company staff on an “as needed”
basis is often very useful during crunch opportunity time.
Familiar with the people and organization, the client has
a consultant who can meet actuarial information needs promptly
and cost effectively. During crunch opportunity times, Joe
works side by side in client’s offices as necessary
late into evening hours or on weekends to help clients mine
data and analyze issues. When an issue arises requiring additional
staffing, using Marker’s network of independent consultants,
Marker is able to coordinate bringing in additional consultant
experts as needed without burdensome permanent staff obligations
for his client.
